Commercial dance is taking the world by storm. From shows like So You Think You Can Dance to the esteemed team behind Gaga herself – commercial dancers are become more ingrained in the entertainment industry than ever before.
This three-week course is for intermediate and advanced dancers who are looking to add industry know-how to their dance tool-box. Studio School’s unique relationship with MSA, the global leader in dance and choreography representation – offers attendees a chance to work with some of the medium’s foremost personalities. Courses with these choreographers/instructors run alongside courses in acting, entrepreneurship, and media-based collaboration – a formula specifically designed to empower dynamic technique, strong storytelling and performance skills, and a true understanding of what it is to be a part of the commercial dance industry.
Attendees have daily exposure to exclusive choreographers and industry professionals through daily master workshops and mentored productions. Acting curriculum focus is on the artist/actor with classes in acting techniques, improvisation, content creation, and on-camera training. Entrepreneurship and collaboration courses offer insights on set-etiquette, audition technique and preparation, basic filmmaking totems (allowing for empowered self-taping), industry customs, and more.
All Commercial Dance participants create three pieces of original digital content including a dance solo, a partner scene, and an interdisciplinary group project collaboratively produced amongst peers and guided by an industry mentor. Our Commercial Dancers are an integral part of developing the material that will be used for their collaborative projects.
Campers are trained by professional dancers working in commercial markets worldwide, individuals who are both passionate about fostering the next-generation of storytellers and uniquely qualified to offer up-to-date and real-world techniques and insights into this ever-evolving industry.
